Melvins are an american rock band with genres of sludge metal, drone, punk, and alternative. They have a large fanbase and cult following in the underground music culture. The band has usually been a trio with original member and founder Buzz Osbourne (also known as King Buzzo to the fans), Dale Crover on drums (although not an original member, he has been in the band for most of its career), and a long line of bassists that has been in and out with the band (including Shirley Temples daughter). Melvins are now formed with Big Business members Jared Warren on bass and Coady Willis as a second drummer. They have been known for their bizarre sense of humor, influence on other bands, and experimentation.

Their own influences came from punk bands such as Swans, Flipper, and Black Flag (said to be during the My War era).
